The Pflugerville Pfarmers Market will be open each Tuesday from May 7 to the fall at the Green Red Barn, 901 Old Austin Hutto Road. Hours will be 3-7 p.m. Vendors sell locally grown produce and other wares. Admission is free and open to the public.

Splash park

The Falcon Pointe Splash Park opens for the summer season on May 1, at 1813 Tranquility Lane. Hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Pflugerville Rotary

The Pflugerville Rotary Club hosts its weekly noon meeting on Wednesday, May 1 in the Poppy Room of the Pflugerville Public Library, 1008 W. Pfluger St.

Pflugerville Rotary also meets every Thursday morning at 6:30 a.m. at Moonie’s Burger House, 15803 Windermere Drive.

Drug and alcohol class

The Alcohol Chemical Treatment Series class meets every Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. at New Life Church in Round Rock, 1609 Chisholm Trail. The class is free, with free classes also offered in Pflugerville and Georgetown. For more information call 246-9923.

Pecan Street Christian registration

Pecan Street Christian School of First United Methodist Church is currently registering for the 2013-14 school year. The school is located at 500 E. Pecan in Pflugerville.

PISD board meeting

The Pflugerville ISD board of trustees will conduct a meeting on May 2 at 6:30 p.m. at the Pflugerville ISD administration building, located at 1401 W. Pecan.

Panther Celebration

The Panther Celebration committee will meet to discuss this year’s Pflugerville High School graduation lock-in. Parent volunteers are currently needed. Meeting dates are April 4 and May 2 at 6:30 p.m. at Pflugerville High School.

Pflugerville Elementary events

Pflugerville Elementary School PTO will host the inaugural Ants in Your Pants 5K and Kids K on May 4, beginning at 8 a.m. The event will be held in conjunction with the school’s Spring Pfling Pfestival from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Pfestival will feature a trackless train, a magnetic wall, face-painting, petting zoo, games, food and more.

Dog Daze Pet Fair

The Dog Daze Pet Fair, benefitting Pflugerville Animal Shelter, will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 4 at the Pflugerville Dog Park, 18217 Tranquility Lane. Pets and owners are invited to attend.

Adoption Days

The Pflugerville Animal Shelter hosts Adoption Days at PetCo in Stone Hill shopping center each Saturday and Sunday, from noon to 4 p.m. Volunteers are also needed.

Tennis lessons each Saturday

Tennis lessons will be conducted by Pflugerville community members and Hendrickson High School varsity tennis players every Saturday at the Hendrickson tennis courts. Lessons begin at 8:30 a.m. and are free to the public.

Austin Civic Wind Ensemble

The Austin Civic Wind Ensemble will perform songs of Mexico at Pfluger Park, 515 City Park Road, from noon to 5 p.m. May 5. The Hendrickson High School choir and Spanish language classes and Round Rock Ballet Folklorico are slated to perform.

City Council to meet

The Pflugerville City Council meets on May 14 at City Council chambers, 100 E. Main St., Suite 500. The meeting begins at 7 p.m.

Sit ‘n Knit

“Sit ‘n Knit” meets the third Thursday of each month at 7 p.m. at the Pflugerville Public Library, 1008 W. Pfluger St. The event is free and open to the public.

Deutschen Pfest

The 38th Annual Deutschen Pfest celebration takes place May 17-19 in Pflugerville. The festival will include a parade, carnival, vendors, live music, food and more. Activities center around Pfluger Park and Gilleland Creek Park.

Baby Signs Story Time

Toy Time of Pflugerville will host free Baby Signs Story Time the final Thursday of each month at 11 a.m. Participants will take part in a book-reading, learning signs to go with the books and doing related activities. The events are geared toward children age 5 and under.

Toy Time is located in downtown Pflugerville at 101-B W. Pecan St.

Turning Pages Book Club

The Turning Pages Book Club will meet the final Thursday of the month at the Pflugerville Public Library, 1008 W. Pfluger St. The meeting, open to the public, begins at 2 p.m.

Watering schedule in place

City officials want to remind residents that Pflugerville is still under Stage II mandatory water conservation restrictions.
The watering schedule is as follows:

  • Residential homes with an odd number: Wednesday and Saturday
  • Residential homes with an even number: Thursday and Sunday (no watering on Monday)
  • Commercial facilities (apartments, condominiums, civic, commercial, industrial and institutional properties): Tuesday and Friday

All water customers are required to comply with the water conservation schedule. The restrictions allow watering of lawns, landscapes and foundations, but only on designated days and before 10 a.m. or after 7 p.m. Watering with a hand-held positive shutoff nozzle or bucket is allowed anytime, any day. Car-washing is permitted only on watering days and not between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m.

Filling or refilling of indoor or outdoor swimming pools is prohibited. Violation of the mandatory restrictions is a Class C misdemeanor, punishable by a fine not to exceed $2,000.
