What’s Going Around: Pflugerville

From Dr. Carlos Victorica at Scott & White Clinic – Cedar Park West:

“So, still mostly influenza, enterovirus and rhinovirus. As we get closer to the summer, we should see more enterovirus, and some adenovirus as well. Lots of allergies, as well, is what we’re seeing with allergic rhinitis.

  • Allergic rhinitis – [take] daily nonsedating antihistamine with cetirizine, or loratadine, along with a sinus wash or netti pot with boiled or distilled water.
  • Enterovirus/rhinovirus/influenza – hand washing for prevention, avoidance of sick contacts, maintenance of good health (physical activity, hydration, plenty of sleep, good diet). If symptoms develop, take some time off of work to recover, keep hydrated, and use ibuprofen for symptoms.”
